The Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, or PCV Valve, controls gas emissions expelled from your vehicle’s crankcase. The valve connects to the crankcase, which houses motor oil. When fuel is burned within the engine, the motor oil in the crankcase develops gasses that can be damaging to the mechanical systems inside your INFINITI and the atmosphere. Instead of giving those emissions the ability to enter the internal-combustion engine and develop gunk that will compromise the major systems of your INFINITI, the PCV Valve gives the gases a place to escape. They go into the combustion chamber to be burned. At last, the gasses are expelled into the air as a less-damaging exhaust.
This tiny, but powerful part creates more control over harmful emissions and proper ventilation within the crankcase. When a PCV Valve wears out, it can lead to issues in your engine. An obstructed or stuck valve can result in high pressure in the engine, a blown gasket, leaky oil, whistling, harmful precipitation within your engine, or sensor issues. Occasionally a PCV Valve remains open. When this happens, you may notice black smoke, noticeably loud engine idling, a hard engine start, or motor oil in the PCV Valve.
