The Mass Air Flow Sensor on your vehicle is an important component of the electronic fuel injection system. The Mass Air Flow Sensor is installed between the engine's intake manifold and the air filter and evaluates the amount of air that passes through the air filter and into the engine. Your INFINITI's onboard computer uses the information gathered by the Mass Air Flow Sensor and regulates how much fuel is needed to keep the right ratio of air to fuel.
If you have a damaged or worn out Mass Air Flow Sensor, the engine may run lean, meaning there is too much air or not enough fuel in the air-to-fuel ratio. If the engine is running lean, your INFINITI might have trouble starting, or you may notice decreased performance or backfires when decelerating.
