The Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, or PCV Valve, recycles toxic gasses exhaled from the crankcase in your INFINITI. The PCV Valve adheres to the crankcase, which carries engine oil. As fuel burns, the engine oil within your crankcase produces gases that can be harmful to your INFINITI and the earth. Instead of giving those emissions the ability to enter the internal-combustion engine and develop gunk that will damage the integrity of your engine system, the PCV Valve guides the gases to a “disposal” mechanism. Next, the gases are burned in the combustion chamber. At last, they are emitted from your vehicle as less-harmful fumes.

This tiny, but powerful part creates more control over harmful emissions and proper ventilation within the crankcase. After a PCV Valve becomes worn, you may experience engine problems. An obstructed or stuck valve may lead to high pressure in your engine, head gasket issues, oil leaks, whistling, harmful precipitation within your engine, or sensor problems. Sometimes a PCV Valve becomes stuck open. When this happens, it can cause smoke, loud noises while your engine idles, a hard engine start, or oil in the PCV Valve.
