Your vehicle's engine relies on the Direct Ignition Coils to start. Spark plugs require thousands of volts to produce the appropriate spark, which is considerably greater than the 12 volts your Nissan's battery produces. The ignition coils take the lower voltage from your battery, increase it, and forward it to the spark plugs. The spark plugs then have the power needed to start your vehicle. Without working Direct Ignition Coils, your Nissan can't operate.

When a Direct Ignition Coil is damaged or failing, you can't repair it and will need to replace it. You could have a bad Direct Ignition Coil if your engine stalls, your car backfires, your car won't start, or your check engine light is on.
With the correct knowledge and tools, you can replace a Nissan Direct Ignition Coil at home. However, you can always bring your car to the nearest service center to have a trained technician carry out the replacement.
