Your Nissan Door Jamb Switch, also commonly called a Door Ajar Switch or Door Jamb Light Switch, triggers your car's interior lights when your car doors are opened or closed. Your Door Jamb Switch offers added convenience and lighting by automatically switching on your cabin lighting with no inconvenience of flipping any buttons or switches.
The Door Jamb Switch includes a lever bar that activates your vehicle's cabin lights when decompressed and deactivates it when compressed. In current Nissan models, your Door Jamb Switch could also cause a "Door Ajar" warning to notify you when one of your vehicle's doors has not latched completely. Your Door Jamb Switch is located at the front of your door frame, at your rear door jamb, or fixed to the door latch mechanism.
Door Jamb Switch failure can occur over time due to harsh use or other damage. If you notice visible wear or that your cabin lights have stopped switching on or off when you open or close the doors, it could be time to order a replacement Door Jamb Switch. Swapping out your Door Jamb Switch most likely won't require removing any large vehicle components. This means that replacing your Door Jamb Switch at home is possible. Still, the task calls for some electrical wiring knowledge and both the correct tools and replacement parts.
If you'd like to put your Door Jamb Switch replacement in the hands of an auto expert, turn to your nearby certified Nissan repair shop.
