• Releases the hood latch mechanism that opens your vehicle's hood

The Hood Release Cable on your INFINITI connects your cabin's hood release handle to the latch under the hood. When the hood release handle is pulled, it pulls on the Hood Release Cable and allows the hood latch to release or “pop” the hood.

Without a Hood Release Cable in place, you likely won't be able to open the hood since the hood release handle would have nothing connecting it to the hood latch. Without a functioning Hood Release Cable, you would likely need to unlatch your hood using ways not recommended by INFINITI. Releasing the hood latch outside of using the hood release handle may leave the hood latch damaged or not functioning correctly, as well as the parts surrounding the hood latch mechanism.

The Hood Release Cable on your vehicle may rust or wear out over time, which may cause it to break or get stuck while operating it. It's likely time to replace your Hood Release Cable if nothing happens when you pull your hood release handle or if you feel excessive resistance when pulling the release handle.
