Your INFINITI’s Accelerator Pedal Sensor passes electrical cues to the engine throttle, which controls how quickly or slowly it moves based on the position of the gas pedal. When the gas pedal is pressed down, the Accelerator Pedal Sensor then notifies the throttle to open more, which allows more fuel and air to enter the engine. As you let up on the accelerator pedal, the Accelerator Pedal Sensor signals the throttle to close (the amount it closes is based on position of the pedal), which slows acceleration in your INFINITI.
Before the existence of the Accelerator Pedal Sensor, the relationship between the throttle and the accelerator pedal was designed as a physical mechanism. In older cars, a wire connected the accelerator to a valve under the hood that would pull and push the throttle open and shut, depending upon how far the pedal was depressed. Nowadays, new cars have an electronic Accelerator Pedal Sensor for maximum performance.
Signs that your INFINITI Accelerator Pedal Sensor should be replaced can vary, but commonly include: inconsistent acceleration and deceleration when engaging or lifting the accelerator, issues with fuel efficiency, or a “Check Engine” light that’s illuminated on the dash panel in your INFINITI.

A damaged Accelerator Pedal Sensor may hurt the efficiency of your vehicle.
