Part Number: 22693-EY00A
Supersession(s): 22693EY00A

Air Fuel Ratio Sensor.
Oxygen Sensor.

  • Monitors the air-to-fuel ratio within your engine
  • Can become worn over time or damaged by a fluid leak
  • Replacement by an INFINITI professional is recommended

Your vehicle's combustion system depends on numerous sensors and gauges to maintain optimal conditions for performance. One of these technologies is the O2 sensor. At their inception, Oxygen Sensors were rolled out to reduce emissions, and are now standard in most modern vehicles. Depending on which INFINITI model and year you drive, your combustion engine may rely on one or more of these.

Your INFINITI's O2 sensors help gauge the air-to-fuel mixture, helping your engine's internal computer regulate said ratio depending on whether your engine is running on too little oxygen (burning rich) or burning lean (too much oxygen). Having the incorrect ratio of air-to-fuel can negatively impact the combustion system, resulting in poorer fuel efficiency and more emissions. That's one reason why it's so important to get a genuine INFINITI Oxygen Sensor.

An Oxygen Sensor makes electricity, and the amount of voltage it results in depends on what's coming out of the exhaust system. In other words, the electricity generated by your INFINITI Oxygen Sensor will vary if the fuel-air mixture is off! When the system notices a change in voltage, your vehicle's onboard computer makes adjustments to the fuel mixtures to keep it running as designed.

Your vehicle's O2 sensor may need to be replaced due to regular wear and tear. In some cases, your car may need a premature O2 sensor replacement if it comes in contact with coolant or oil due to leaks or other contaminants. Some symptoms that may clue you into the need for a replacement O2 sensor include: engine misfiring, rough idling, poor gas mileage, and an illuminated check engine light.

Since most modern vehicles rely on not one but multiple Oxygen Sensors to moderate the combustion process, it can be hard for vehicle owners to diagnose and repair this issue at home. In some cases, the repair involves at a specialized scanner and jacking the vehicle up to get to the undercarriage. That's why many INFINITI drivers opt for getting O2 sensor replacement services from their local INFINITI experts.
