Top Five Projects You Can DIY to Take Your INFINITI to the Next Level

To get there, you'll have to do a few key upgrades. You're in luck: car or SUV, your ride's got prospects -- lots of them. All you'll need are the right parts and accessories.

Here are five.
1. Engine and Exhaust
Drive, say, an INFINITI G37? If it's a 2013 model, it's got one powerful 3.7-liter V6 engine. The base model, for instance, gets 328 horsepower, and the engine can put out anywhere from 267 to 270 pound-feet of torque, depending on trim.
Like any INFINITI model, though, one can still be modded for higher power ratings, making for a more exciting ride. All you'll need to do, usually, is install a turbocharger (or trade up to a supercharger), substitute a cold air intake for the factory air intake, and swap out the stock engine air filter for a performance air filter. A custom exhaust makes a great finishing touch, too; consider adding a cat-back system, for example -- one with wider tubing and a high-flow catalytic converter.
2. Cargo and Towing Accessories
If you drive a later-model INFINITI QX80, for instance, you probably know it has an excellent tow rating of up to 8,500 pounds. You likely also know (and have made ample use of) its massive 95.1 cubic feet of max cargo space. To get the most out of both, you'll need the right trailer parts, plus a few of the best cargo accessories.
Start with a ball mount and trailer ball; they'll enable attaching both a tow hitch and a trailer coupler. Then, invest in some security accessories like a hitch lock, hitch pin, safety pin, and anti-rattle kit. It'll be a big help to have recovery accessories like a winch, too, in case you have to pull equipment, another vehicle, or even yourself out of a tight spot.
Next, pick up a cargo tray for organizing things in the trunk and a cargo net to hold small items up off its floor, and top off the installation with a cargo cover; it'll make hiding valuables practically in plain sight while you're out and about a lot easier. Need to make extra room on top of your vehicle afterwards? Consider adding a roof rack and crossbars.
3. Electronics
Now, consider INFINITI Q50. If you drive one, you're already well aware that it's a sports car with an interior that's got plenty of room for customization. For one, in the way of electronics; if you're behind the wheel of an older model, try upgrading to the latest INFINITI InTouch™ dual HD display and Bose Performance Series audio systems (features offered in the 2024 model), and as a perk, add an entertainment system for backseat passengers (a DVD or Blu-ray player with external LCD screens, for instance).
4. Interior Accessories
The 2025 INFINITI QX60, for another example, has one sumptuous cabin. You can make yours, if you drive one, even more comfortable, not to mention protect your investment -- namely, by adding interior accessories. That means putting custom seat covers on the factory leather seating, optional all-season floor mats in place of carpeted floor mats, and some sunshades in, to improve the UV heat- and light-resistance of the standard panoramic moonroof.
5. Exterior Accessories
If you've got a 2022 INFINITI Q60, then you likely already love an exterior that's got everything going for it. If it's a Red Sport 400, it's those 20-inch alloy wheels, black side mirror housings, red brake calipers, and a brushed satin-finish exhaust tips. If it's a Luxe trim, it's the premium paint, especially the striking Dynamic Sunstone Red hue, if you sprung for it. If it's a Pure trim, it's probably the piercing LED lighting and fog lights, if not the cool adaptive front lighting you could get with the ProActive package back in the day.
Would you believe that you can do one better? It's true; just install a few exterior accessories. First, by installing a body kit -- one with, say, even more stylish front and rear bumpers, more eye-catching trim and side skirts, and a sleeker, more aerodynamic spoiler or wing. Second, by showing off your brand pride with some added custom emblems. Third, by upgrading those wheels to something even more cutting-edge -- to, say, carbon-fiber. Fourth, by going for even more unique lighting -- HID/Xenon, for instance: ideal for a sports coupe.
