INFINITI Sets a New Luxury SUV Standard with the 2025 INFINITI QX80
As of early September 2024, the all-new 2025 INFINITI QX80 is on sale at dealerships nationwide, and the full-size luxury SUV is already making big strides as one of the first models in what's being billed as part of a "renaissance" in INFINITI vehicles. In fact, with its advent, the brand aims to set a new standard for the segment.

2025 INFINITI QX80 at a Glance
1. Performance
QX80 may come standard for 2025 with a VR35DDTT 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, capable of producing a hard-charging 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. It may even be an increase of 50 horses and 103 pound-feet compared to the outgoing model -- the highest, in this case, torque output in INFINITI history, to paraphrase Ivan Espinosa, the company's senior vice president, Chief Planning Officer. The SUV may even have a 9-speed automatic transmission with 27% better low-end acceleration and 12% better overdrive fuel economy, and fuel economy may even be 10% better model year-over-year.
It's the available Electronic Air Suspension and Dynamic Digital Suspension, however, that, together, will redefine luxury ride quality. Key aspects of the duo include 1.2 inches of lowering capability during driving for aerodynamics, an Off-road setting that can raise the air suspension 2.1 inches for tacking into tougher terrain better, and electronically controlled dampers that cut body roll, make cornering more precise, and reduce bounce on bad roads for a smoother, more enjoyable ride.
2. Utility
Right out the proverbial gate, QX80 already boasts a standard tow rating of 8,500 pounds. Cargo space behind the second- and third-row seats is even up 17% and 28%, respectively (yielding 59 and 22 cubic feet of room, respectively). The SUV even has a standard motion-activated, hands-free power liftgate for convenience.
What is has that some other models out there these days don't, though, is an air suspension that can lower up to 2.8 inches specifically for loading cargo and unloading it, letting passengers get in and out, and both, more easily. And a great way to make the most of that cargo capacity? Add a few cargo accessories -- a cargo tray, for instance, for organizing things better, a cargo net to hold smaller items up off the floor, a cargo to conceal valuables, and, to make even more room, but on top of your vehicle, a set of crossbars to the existing roof rails.
3. Comfort
If any luxury crossover typifies a relaxing ride, it's 2025 QX80. It offers ample passenger space, with room in all rows improved model year-over-year; the rear rows feature both power-folding and power-raising functions, accessible from the cargo hold and infotainment touchscreen; and the second row features "walk-in" mode for easier third-row access.
What's distinctive about the latest iteration, however, is its sound-deadening enhancements; the SUV is as many as 3 to 4 decibels quieter than its predecessor. You can better the comfort of its interior even further, by putting in custom seat covers, for one, plus adding sunshades. Together, they'll not only make the cabin atmosphere even more pleasant, but also help protect, say, the heated and cooled, semi-aniline leather front seats in, for example, the AUTOGRAPH trim.
4. Technology
Sure, QX80 has standard driver assist features galore for 2025. We're talking everything from Predictive Forward Collision Warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and a blind spot warning system to rear cross traffic alert, Blind Spot Intervention®, and lane departure prevention. It's even got unique ones like trailer blind spot warning, for more safely towing a load up to 33 feet long. What's truly distinctive about it, though, is the parking and camera tech it brings for the latest model year.
For one, an available My Parking Locations feature, which enables saving the spot where you park as a location, so you can return to it later, complete with help sidling in thanks to preprogrammed parking guides (which make the function great for parking in tighter spots). Secondly, ProPILOT Assist 1.118 and, standard on the AUTOGRAPH trim and optional on LUXE and SENSORY, ProPILOT Assist 2.17; these enable smarter and, in some cases, more autonomous driving. Thirdly, all sorts of view capabilities, including a 170-degree Front Wide View feature, an under-car Invisible Hood View, and an Ultra Wide View showable on the SUV's 14.3-inch infotainment displays.
Two singular features you may not find anywhere else, though: an available INFINITI Dash Cam Recorder and an equally optional In-Car Camera. The former can capture footage of what's happening outside the SUV, and you can review it via both the infotainment system and your mobile phone. The latter allows you to get a visual on rear passengers and, when your ride's parked, check on the interior via a phone app.
MSRP on QX80 for 2025, according to INFINITI, may range from $82,450 or so to around $110,595, depending on whether you spring for a PURE or LUXE trim or a SENSORY or an AUTOGRAPH, and on whether you prefer rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD).
