Part Number: 22693-3RC0A
Supersession(s): 22693-1MR0A; 226933RC0A

  • Monitors the air-to-fuel ratio within your engine
  • Can become worn over time or damaged by a fluid leak
  • Replacement by an INFINITI professional is recommended

Your vehicle's combustion system depends on various sensors to maintain an adequate environment for performance. One of these technologies is the O2 or Oxygen Sensor. Originally, Oxygen Sensors were rolled out to reduce emissions, and they can be found in the large majority of cars on the road today. Depending on your INFINITI model and year, you may have one or more of these in your engine.

Your INFINITI's O2 sensors help gauge the air-to-fuel ratio in your engine, helping your engine's internal computer regulate the ratio depending on whether your engine is burning rich (too little oxygen) or burning lean (too much oxygen). An “off” air-to-fuel ratio can affect your engine combustion performance, resulting in decreased gas mileage and increased emissions. That's one reason why it's so important to get a genuine INFINITI Oxygen Sensor.

An Oxygen Sensor produces an electric charge, and the voltage it renders depends on the product of the exhaust system. In layman's terms, the voltage generated by the Oxygen Sensor will vary if the fuel-air mixture is off! When the system notes a variance in voltage, your INFINITI's computer makes the necessary adjustments to keep your INFINITI running as intended.

Your vehicle's O2 sensor may need to be replaced due to regular wear and tear. In certain circumstances, you may need to replace it prematurely if it comes in contact with coolant or oil due to leaks or other contaminants. Some potential signs that it's time for a replacement O2 sensor include: cylinder misfires, noisy idling, decreased fuel efficiency, and an illuminated check engine light.

Because most modern cars rely on multiple O2 sensors to regulate the operation of the combustion process, it can be challenging for an at-home mechanic to pinpoint which one requires replacement! Occasionally, the process requires a specialized code scanner and jacking the vehicle up to get to the undercarriage. That's why many INFINITI owners opt for getting O2 sensor replacement services at their local INFINITI service center.
