The Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, or PCV Valve, controls gas emissions expelled from your INFINITI's crankcase. The PCV Valve attaches to crankcase, which carries engine oil. As your engine burns fuel, the lubricant in your crankcase produces gases that can be harmful to the mechanical systems inside your INFINITI and the atmosphere. Instead of allowing harmful gasses to get into the internal-combustion engine and develop gunk that will damage the integrity of your engine system, your PCV Valve provides a safer escape route. Once they enter the combustion chamber, the gases are burned. Lastly, they're released into the atmosphere as less-harmful fumes.

This little, but important part mitigates a large amount of harmful gasses from escaping, while providing ventilation for the crankcase. After a PCV Valve becomes worn, it can cause engine issues. An obstructed or stuck valve may create high engine pressure, a blown gasket, leaky oil, high-pitched noises, unwanted engine moisture, or sensor issues. Now and then a PCV Valve gets stuck open. When this happens, it can lead to black smoke, noisy engine idle, difficulting starting the engine, or engine oil in the PCV Valve.

Consistent maintenance checks help to avoid the PCV Valve from remaining stuck. Even with perfect auto maintenance, if the PCV Valve in your INFINITI needs to be fixed, stop by a nearby INFINITI repair shop for repair, unless you're an experienced automotive technician yourself.
