Oxygen Sensor

Part Number: 22693-9HP0A
Supersession(s): 226939HP0A

  • Monitors the air-to-fuel ratio within your engine
  • Can become worn over time or damaged by a fluid leak
  • Replacement by an INFINITI professional is recommended

Your vehicle's combustion system depends on numerous sensors and gauges to maintain optimal conditions for performance. One of these sensors if the Oxygen Sensor. Originally, they were introduced to help control and curb emissions, and are now a standard offering in most current vehicles. Depending on which INFINITI model and year you drive, your combustion engine may rely on one or more of these.

The Oxygen Sensors help gauge the air-to-fuel mixture, working with the internal computer to regulate the ratio depending on whether your engine is burning rich (too little oxygen) or too much oxygen (burning lean). An “off” air-to-fuel ratio can negatively impact the combustion system, resulting in reduced fuel efficiency and more emissions. That's why it's smart to get a genuine INFINITI Oxygen Sensor.

An Oxygen Sensor produces an electric charge, and the amount of voltage it creates depends on what the exhaust system is producing. In layman's terms, the electricity generated by your INFINITI Oxygen Sensor will vary if the fuel-air mixture is off! When a variance in voltage is detected, your vehicle's onboard computer makes the necessary adjustments to keep it running as designed.

Your INFINITI Oxygen Sensor may require a replacement due to age and wear. In certain circumstances, your car may need a premature O2 sensor replacement if your INFINITI sensor is damaged by coolant or oil leaks, or other forms of contamination. Some telltale signs that indicate the need for a new Oxygen Sensor are: engine misfiring, noisy idling, decreased gas mileage, and an illuminated dashboard warning light.

Since the majority of modern cars rely on multiple O2 sensors to regulate the operation of the combustion process, it can be hard for vehicle owners to diagnose and repair this issue at home. Sometimes, the process requires a specialized code scanner and inspecting the undercarriage by jacking up the vehicle. Accordingly, many INFINITI drivers opt for getting Oxygen Sensor repairs at their local INFINITI service center.

Is one or more of your INFINITI Oxygen Sensors misfiring? Order an authentic Oxygen Sensor designed to fit your INFINITI JX35 2015-2016 or INFINITI QX60 2015-2016. See the What This Fits tab for more details.
