The Catalytic Converter is an integral part of your INFINITI's exhaust system. The Catalytic Converter controls emissions by reducing and filtering out toxic pollutants and gases. Without a working Catalytic Converter, toxic fumes from the engine combustion process could release harmful gases into the environment through the exhaust system. Make sure your INFINITI has a working exhaust system with a new, genuine INFINITI Catalytic Converter.
If your INFINITI has an old or worn out Catalytic Converter, you might notice some symptoms, such as excessive heat coming from underneath your INFINITI, reduced engine performance or acceleration, darker exhaust smoke, or a sulfuric or rotten egg smell from your exhaust.
Additionally, a malfunctioning Catalytic Converter can trigger your vehicle's check engine light. However, a check engine light on your dashboard doesn't always mean there is an issue with the Catalytic Converter. Your Catalytic Converter can wear out over time. It may get clogged or pieces inside the Catalytic Converter can break off and cause the converter to rattle while you drive. Other issues on your vehicle may cause the Catalytic Converter to wear out as well. These problems can include the engine running lean, causing the Catalytic Converter to run hot, or the engine burning oil. Ensure your vehicle doesn't have additional issues that could be causing problems with your Catalytic Converter.
